NO MERCY FROM MOTHAR!

SHE HAS THE REPUTATION OF THE TOUGHEST SPEEDWAY TRACK TO TAME IN AUSTRALIA, AND SATURDAY NIGHT SHE LIVED UP TO HER NAME. MOTHAR MOUNTAIN SPEEDWAY OPENED HER GATES TO OVER 130 RACE CARS, INCLUDING 26 MODIFIED PRODUCTION MONSTERS FOR THE 2ND ROUND OF THE G&W SERIES AND NEARLY AS MANY ASCF JUNIORS FOR THE PERFORMAX INTERNATIONAL DEBUT SERIES.

NINE HEATS OF PRODUCTION CARS PROVIDED THE EXPECTED THRILLS AND SPILLS THAT MANY CAME TO ENJOY, ROLLOVERS AND PANELS FLYING A PLENTY. AFTER TWO HEAT WINS AND A SECOND PLACE, WE SAW OUR LOCAL TALENT GAVIN LORENSON ON POLE FOR A 30 LAP FINAL WITH CURRENT AUSTRALIA ONE DEFENDER TODD DOYLE AND NSW CHAMPION STEVE PRICE SIDE BY SIDE LURKING OUT OF ROW THREE.

LIGHTS GONE GREEN KEPT THE CROWD CHEERING FOR THE WHOLE THIRTY LAPS, AND IT WAS A CASE OF “DAD CAN I BORROW THE KEYS TO THE CAR” WHICH SAW MARK RAYMONT GREETING THE CHEQUERED FLAG IN HIS FATHERS COOROY AUTO WRECKERS FALCON CLOSELY FOLLOWED BY HIS YOUNGER BROTHER AIDAN IN THE SISTER FALCON.

OUR ASCF JUNIORS HAD THERE HANDS FULL WITH A CHALLENGING TRACK SURFACE WITH 13 CARS LINED UP FOR THE FINAL. BRISBANE HERO CHARLIE BROWN HAD THREE HEAT WINS AND LED THE WAY OFF POLE FOR THE 15 LAP FEATURE EVENT BUT WAS SENT TO THE REAR OF FIELD EARLY IN THE PIECE PROVIDING THE CROWD WITH A FANTASTIC SPECTACLE, A COMEBACK THAT EVENTUATED IN A RACE WIN. LOCAL JUNIORS, STEPHEN ENGLISH, MICHEAL AND BRENDAN LEAROYD FINISHED 5TH, 7TH AND 8TH.

SUPPORT PROGRAMS FOR THE NIGHT SAW MICHEAL ROZA WINNING SUPER STREET SEDANS, CHRISTIAN WALKER PROVING TOO GOOD IN THE STREET SEDAN SERIES, YOUNG STAR MITCHELL THOMPSEN CLAIMING VICTORY IN THE JUNIOR STREET SEDAN FEATURE AND PAUL REDMAN MAKING HIS MARK IN THE 4 CYLINDER SEDAN FINAL.

“IT WAS THE BIGGEST NIGHT THE CLUB HAS HOSTED AT THE MOUNTAIN IN YEARS, THE TRACK WAS UNFORGIVING AND PROVED A CHALLENGE FOR EVEN THE MOST EXPERIENCED DRIVERS. NO DOUBT THERE WILL BE MANY DRIVERS AND CREWS, (INCLUDING MYSELF), SCRATCHING OUR HEADS WONDERING WHERE TO START WITH REPAIRS”.

“AS USUAL, VOLENTEERS AND ORGANISERS MADE THE NIGHT A FANTASTIC SPECTACLE, WE LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR COMPANY ON DEC 13 FOR ANOTHER MASSIVE NIGHT OF V8 METHANOL SUPER SEDAN ACTION AND A FULL SUPPORT PROGRAM TO BOOT”

Hi All, as you probably Know the AGM was held on the 18th July and a new committee was voted in. We have a New President Allan Jennings has replaced Cameron and we wish Cameron all the best.

The New Vice President Replacing Gary is Anthony Vervaart.

Gary has now become the Junior Vice President Replacing Doug Rigby who is our Chief Scrutineer.

I am still Secretary for another season and Brian English is now our Treasurer. Brian will be replacing Geoff Bingham who has done a Wonderful Job over the Previous Years. We would like to thank the Previous Committee for all their time and Commitment to the club. And Welcome the new Committee.

Now on a different Note we will be having a Working Bee on the 16th and 17th of August

The reason this Working Bee is over the 2 days is we have had a wonderful Donation of Paint from Crescent Paints so as we can do a revamp on the club house, tower and toilets

So there fore we would love everyone’s help to accomplish this task over these 2 days as well as a spring clean for the canteen and some mowing and a general clean up before the start of the new season so if anyone can help please bring any tools such as Mowers, Whipper Snippers, Paint Scrapers, Paint Brushes, Buckets, and Cleaning Cloths Gerni’s and anything else you think would be Handy and thank you in advance.

Daylight Machinery has been scheduled for the 17th August also for ASCF Cars and any new cars needing to be registered (PLEASE NOTE QSCA CARS REGISTERED FROM LAST SEASON DO NOT NEED DAYLIGHT MACHINERY)

We also have a Practice day scheduled for the 13th September 2008

Cost for the Practice day will be $30.00 per race car and we will be selling Sausages and Soft Drinks at the Canteen. Also any Volunteers who can give a hand on the day would be greatly appreciated.
